WELCOME TO COLOURFUL BRISTOL

City Break Bristol

A city break to Bristol tops the lists of many travellers these days. Why? Bristol is a creative, exciting and young city. It’s been named as the ‘Happiest city in the UK’ and regularly tops “Best places to the live in the UK” lists. In Bristol urban lifestyle merges with natural beauty in a maritime atmosphere set against an historical background. It ticks all boxes basically. But before you move out there straight away you should probably visit Bristol first.

Clifton

Clifton is a charming area to the northeast of the city centre and home to Bristol’s landmark, the Clifton suspension bridge. A stunning feat of engineering. Its best admired from the Clifton observatory. The views are breath-taking.

Gloucester Road and Stokes Croft

Bristol is a hub of independent activity in the UK and has the most independent shops in the country. Areas such as Stokes Croft and Gloucester Road in the north of Bristol are full of local shops, cafes and restaurants. The ever-changing street art that adorns the buildings reflects Bristol’s bohemian spirit. In fact, it boasts quite a few Banksy’s, Bristol most famous resident – so keep your eyes peeled! The street art scene is world class. It’s easy to spend a whole afternoon wandering the different areas of Bristol. And, if all that walking wears you out, you can pop into one of the many bars to refuel and refresh.

Harbourside

The engineering mastermind Brunel designed the SS Great Britain for the passenger transport between Bristol and New York in 1850s. It was the world’s largest passenger vessel in the world. In 1970, 33 years after it has been sunk, the vessel was raised and meticulously rebuilt. It now serves as a museum ship in Bristol beautifully restored harbour area. Traditionally known as the Floating Harbour the area carries Bristol’s darkest history, the slave trade. From here African slaves were shipped to work in America. It is now home to museums and galleries such as the Bristol Aquarium, At-Bristol Science Center, and the Arnolfini visual arts, music, and performance center.
